Always being open is how to be spiritual, right?
Closing off is shutting down, not doing your work, and spiritual bypassing.
But is it? Can we be too open? Is closing off also a spiritual act?
100%.
Developing discernment is an essential spiritual muscle. You can't possibly be open all the time without getting exhausted, depleted, overwhelmed, emotional, and/or scattered.
Recognize that you are not an emotional dumping ground, or punching bag, for others. Your energy is your most valuable currency and wisdom is knowing when and where to spend it.
Being open to everything, even when it depletes and drains you, is not "being spiritual."
On the spiritual path, discernment, boundaries, and knowing when to close are equally as important as being open.
Finding the balance within this polarity is a true flex of your spiritual muscles.
Be open when it feels good to be open. Close when it feels wise to contain your spirit and set a boundary.
Remember that discernment does not need judgment or fear. Knowing what strengthens or weakens you is not judgment. And you can protect your energy by simply trusting that you know what's best for you. There doesn't need to be fear with it.
Put up your boundary and then bring your focus to calling in the light and opening your heart to blessings from spirit.
Own your yes and your no. And in whatever way you're choosing to spend your energetic currency, always do it from the frequency of love and compassion.
